A Letter I Never Had The Courage To Send
To: To The One Who Got Away
Dear You,
I have written this letter a hundred times in my head. Every night before I sleep, I imagine what I would say if I ever got the chance. But words, when they matter the most, always seem to fail me.
I remember the first time I saw you. It was raining, and you were standing under the old banyan tree near the library. Your hair was wet, your smile was bright, and in that moment, I knew my life would never be the same.
We were never together, you and I. But we were never apart either. We existed in the spaces between friendship and love, in the silence between words, in the glances we never held long enough.
I loved you. I still do. Not in the way that consumes, but in the way that lingers. Like the smell of rain on dry earth. Like a song you heard once and can never forget.
I don't know if you ever felt the same. Maybe you did. Maybe you didn't. But I want you to know that loving you was the most beautiful thing I ever did. Even if you never knew.
Forever yours,
Someone who never said it out loud
With love,
